I did not purchase this item from Amazon, however, I want to help others to NOT suck into the Ryobi 18V ONE + system. I purchased the 1/2 inch drill / light combo with two batteris and a charger. These batteries have never held a charge sufficiently to utilize the drill for either drilling or driving (screws) for even a moderate size project. Charging the batteries fully, then attempting to use them even a few days later just yields frustration as they will not even be able to get through one hole drilling and screw driving for a quick project. I decided to cut my loss after only one year and move up to a higher end brand with a lithium battery. Very happy now. Do not purchase a Ryobi Ni-Cad product or system.

The biggest concern with a reconditioned unit is that you're getting a defect that someone else shipped back to the plant at which time the factory couldn't figure out what was wrong and just shipped it back out to someone else. That does not seem to be the case here. Each item, the battery charger, the drill, and both batteries, have the word "RECON" melted into them, other than that, everything appears normal and works as advertised. Batteries charge quickly, there's good control over the speed, the keyless chuck is easy to operate, the clutch has lots of torque settings, and the motor seems plenty strong. I like it a lot and would recommend this product.
