This is a wonderful tool for working in close quarters. It is part of DeWalt's cordless line so that it has the cheerful yellow color and a long life battery. All of my other DeWalt tools are 18 volt; I have no understanding of why this tool does not come in an 18 volt model. In addition, this tool lacks a variable clutch. It has a 2-speed transmission, but no clutch. This doesn't make a lot of sense. I think that the tool would be vastly improved if it came in 18v and with a clutch. Except for these weaknesses, it does what it is supposed to do.

When I first saw this drill I was skeptical but for the price ($22.95) I decided to try it. I was surprised! I have used it several times to make both large and small holes in steel and plastic. It seems to have adequate power, it is balanced well and the speed is very controllable. Three negatives are the check key holder broke and is in the wrong position. It should be mounted by the plug and not the drill handle. I little duct tape fixed this problem. Second the drill is a little long so if you need to use it in tight places spend a little more and get another product. Third, the feel of the drill is not as solid as other I have used. Therefore, I would not recommend it for a professional but for occasional use around the home its great and a very good value!

Bought this drill to replace my old DeWalt 12 volt cordless, and have already done two projects with it and have been very impressed. Granted, I'm going up in voltage but I'm able to drive 1 1/4" and 1 5/8" screws into pine and oak with a lot less effort than my old trusty 12 volt. The drill size is a little more compact than what I'm used to using but I got used to it very quickly and it's actually a plus when you're up on a ladder or want to minimize tool weight. It has average charge life, but the charger included recharges the batteries in about an hour so you won't be caught short with the extra battery included. A contractor friend of mine has a Hitachi reciprocating saw that he raves about, and I'm starting to see why. They make a good product for the money and the flashlight that's included is a bonus for this tool. I'd pay the full freight for the drill alone.

Their charge is short lived and when it drains ,man does it go fast.____Problem 2: The torque setting switch on the top of the drill grows weak after some usage, allowing it to fall out of it's setting and causing clutch slippage. I've witnessed this on at least three of these style drills. NO GOOD!________Problem 3:And lastly for the drill, the chuck shaft gets loose and sloppy after it gets a few miles on it. Makita needs some further development on this item to make it worthy of their old style drills. And not to forget the flashlight, it's not bad and my only gripe is the fact that after awhile the adjustable pivot head gets loose...

It says right on the box BDDC180 dual charger included and probably where Amazon got the information for their review. But, you or I would not know this until it arrives at our door. From what I can gather from the pdf manual I found on the BDDC180, only the 14v and 18v models come with the two-port charger, hence the 180 in the model number.
